Lodha builds at a scale where a single project is designed to house a small city.

Mangal Prabhat Lodha entered Mumbai's real estate market at a point when the city's development was largely confined to established neighbourhoods and fragmented among small builders. He acquired land in locations that were then peripheral and held it through the long gestation periods that large residential projects require. Abhishek Lodha, who now leads Macrotech Developers, has extended that approach while adding a level of project ambition that distinguishes the company from most peers. Palava, the privately planned township being developed on the outskirts of Mumbai, is among the largest privately built urban developments in India, designed to eventually house several hundred thousand residents with its own civic infrastructure.

The company's premium residential projects in central Mumbai, including some of the tallest residential towers in the country, serve a different market entirely. Running both segments simultaneously requires different land acquisition strategies, different financing structures and different sales cycles, and Lodha has professionalised the organisation enough to manage that complexity. The group listed in 2021 and has since expanded selectively into London and other international markets.
