Methodology

The Science Behind the Numbers

This framework has been developed with the objective of estimating the net worth of individuals through a comprehensive analysis of publicly available data from secondary sources. However, the accuracy and completeness of this data are inherently limited by the extent of disclosures mandated by regulatory requirements. Consequently, this framework represents a best-effort endeavor to capture and attribute all identifiable assets to individuals, with the aim of calculating their net worth. It is essential to note that the inclusion or exclusion of individuals, the calculated net worth values, the resulting rankings, cohorting into top-50 business groups or other individual cohorts, is contingent upon the availability and quality of disclosures, as well as the methodology and assumptions underlying this framework.

As such, the framework's output should be viewed as estimates, rather than definitive valuations, and should be interpreted in the context of these limitations.

The research process involves a thorough analysis of listed and unlisted companies, with the following key considerations:

Listed Companies

The shareholding pattern and market capitalization of listed companies as of June 30, 2024, are considered to determine the net worth of individuals. This includes an analysis of the shareholding of promoters, institutional investors, and other significant stakeholders held directly, or through trusts, or through other corporate entities, or a combination of these three.

Unlisted Companies

The shareholding pattern and book value of unlisted companies as of March 31, 2024, are considered to determine the net worth of individuals. This includes an analysis of the shareholding of promoters, institutional investors, and other significant stakeholders held directly, or through trusts, or through other corporate entities, or a combination of these three. The valuation of these holdings is based on the market price of the underlying asset or the best available transaction data, or the book value, as defined by the framework, to ensure a consistent and reliable estimate of the individual's net worth. USD conversion rate considered: As of June 2024

Exclusions
