Ratan Jindal leads Jindal Stainless, the part of the O.P. Jindal Group that he has developed into one of India's largest stainless steel producers with manufacturing operations in Hisar, Haryana, and Kalinganagar, Odisha. Stainless steel occupies a different market position from the commodity structural steel that other Jindal family branches produce: it commands higher prices, requires more refined manufacturing process control and serves applications where the material's corrosion resistance and surface quality are the relevant performance characteristics.

The company has invested in backward integration and capacity expansion over recent years, extending its position from flat stainless products into specialty grades and tubes. Abhyuday Jindal is increasingly visible in the business's direction. Jindal Stainless benefits from India's infrastructure and railway expansion programmes, which generate demand in coaches, metro systems and food processing equipment, and from urbanisation-driven growth in kitchen and appliance sectors. That the family has maintained a focused, technically competent position in one steel category has produced a business with clearer competitive identity than a broader approach would have allowed.
