Noel Tata's wealth is largely a function of TCS, the company within the Tata Group that has compounded more than any other.

Noel Tata's position in this list reflects the value accumulated through promoter holdings across the Tata Group, most significantly in Tata Consultancy Services. TCS, with over 600,000 employees serving clients in more than 50 countries, is one of the world's largest IT services companies and has been the primary engine of wealth creation within the Tata Group over the past two decades. Its sustained performance, consistent revenue growth, high margins by IT services standards, and a dividend policy that has returned substantial capital to shareholders, has made the promoter stake the most valuable single holding in the Tata portfolio.

Noel Tata, who chairs Tata Trusts following the death of Ratan Tata in 2024, also leads the retail and hospitality businesses and chairs Tata International. His children, Leah, Maya and Neville, have each taken on operational roles within different parts of the group, most visibly Neville through his work at Trent's fast fashion brand Zudio. The concentration of the family's wealth in TCS is a reminder of how significantly a single company can come to dominate the financial picture of even a large diversified group.
